Local Woman Wrongfully Arrested, Files Lawsuit Against Jewelers
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL [January 9, 2025] – Taina Reyes, a resident of Broward County, Florida, is filing a lawsuit against Sol’s Jewelry, Inc., and Antonio Jewelry & Watches, alleging wrongful arrest, malicious prosecution, gross negligence, and defamation, represented by Attorney Gil Sanchez. The lawsuit, filed in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, details how Ms. Reyes was mistakenly identified as a participant in a jewelry theft, leading to her arrest and subsequent public humiliation.
According to the complaint, the jewelers acted recklessly and without due diligence, failing to properly investigate the incident before falsely accusing Ms. Reyes. The arrest report, included in the lawsuit, highlights the flawed identification process and the lack of credible evidence linking Ms. Reyes to the crime. The State Attorney’s Office ultimately decided not to prosecute due to the clear errors in identification.
“This ordeal has been devastating for my client,” says Attorney Gil Sanchez. “We are determined to seek justice and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.”
The lawsuit seeks significant compensation for damages, including but not limited to emotional distress, financial losses, and damage to reputation.
